But when it comes to planning a vacation to the epicenter of Chip and Joanna's world, it can be hard to know where to start. Don't worry—we've got your back. Here's your guide to planning the ultimate trip to Waco.
Why a resealable container? Because once you try the biscuits at Magnolia Table, Chip and Joanna's restaurant, you're going to want to take home half a dozen—okay, maybe a full dozen—for yourself!
Where To Stay
As you may have heard, Chip and Joanna are busy converting a 53,000-square-foot former office into a hotel, infusing it with the timelessness and charm that have made the Gaineses household names. But, if you're planning a trip before 2021—when it's expected to open—we recommend staying at one of the famous Fixer Upper homes that are available to rent on Airbnb and Vrbo. You can stay in the enormous Gorman House if you're planning on bringing a crew along, or the smaller Brick House that can sleep up to six guests.
'Fixer Upper' Houses to Rent in Waco, Texas
If the decked-out Fixer Upper homes are just a bit too pricy for your stay in Waco, there are still cheaper rental and hotel options around town like Hotel Indigo and La Quinta Inn & Suites—which is only a half a mile walk away from the Silos.
When To Go
While any time of year would be great to spend a weekend the Silos, we definitely recommend visiting during Magnolia's annual Silobration that happens every the fall. This year, the event is being held on October 17th through the 19th–so plan accordingly! The Silobration includes more than 40 food trucks and vendors, live music, rooftop picnics, and even a Midway complete with a ferris wheel, so you can take in all the wonders of Waco.
No matter what season you decide to head to Waco, there's one thing we know for sure—getting to the Silos early is a must. Not only does it give you ample time to do absolutely everything you want to do, but you'll be able to beat the crowds.
What To Do
First thing's first: breakfast. If you're willing to wake up early—as in, before-the-rooster-cock-a-doodle-doo's early—you might be able to score a seat at the Gaineses restaurant, Magnolia Table. The breakfast spot opens at 6 a.m. and doesn't take reservations, so be prepared for a wait. But the pancakes are worth it, we're told.
If you prefer to sleep in, head to Joanna's bakery, Silos Baking Co., for a coffee and a pastry, or our personal favorite, The Prize Pig—a fluffy biscuit infused with bits of bacon and cheddar cheese. You can sit on the lawn and enjoy breakfast, taking in your surroundings before getting your shop on.

For lunch the first day, you'll definitely want to head to the Silos' impressive array of food trucks. Almost each and every one of them has an $8 special of the day, giving you a scrumptious meal that doesn't burn too big a hole in your pocket for the rest of the weekend.
After that, you'll want to go shopping in Magnolia Market, where you'll find all sorts of Joanna-approved decor, candles, accessories, and fun t-shirts, like one bearing #shiplap across the chest. From there, head to either Magnolia Seed & Supply or the Little Shop on Bosque, where Magnolia first started out. Save the other for your Day 2 adventures!
The Magnolia website actually has an entire weekend bucket list for you to download—filled with fun Waco activities not only in Chip and Jo's area. You can print them out and check each activity off that you do, and they also provide two-day itineraries for you to print out and follow along with if you'll be there for longer than a day.
Helpful Tips
If you're planning on driving your own vehicle to the Silos, you'll be worried about parking—and, of course, spending extra money at said parking lots. Here's a little trick: As you approach the two towering, cylindrical buildings that symbolize the Silos, you'll see a lot of $10 parking signs. Ignore them—really, ignore them—and head over to Waco City Hall. There's free parking for the public in the lot next to the building. You'll want to head over there early, just in case the parking spaces fill up fast.

As for heading to the bathroom at the Silos, an insider's tip is to check out the single stall in the Silos Baking Co.—most people overlook it, and it's basically an air-conditioned oasis if you go during the hot days of summer. There are larger bathrooms over by the food truck area that get a ton of foot traffic, so this little bathroom hack is truly a diamond in the rough.
To beat that foot traffic—especially at Silos Baking Co.—you'll want to head over before 11 a.m. Any time after that can get a little hectic. Once the morning passes, the line for the sweet shop can get up to 20 minutes long.
